TNA podcast - Suicide and its Records

The latest podcast from the National Archives in Kew is entitled At the Instigation of the Devil: Suicide and its Records, a talk from Dr Kathy Chater on how our ancestors coped with a suicide in the family. It can be freely downloaded from iTunes or listened to at

Great choice for a lecture topic. I don't often listen to the TNA podcasts, but will definitely be dropping in on this one, as a two times great grandmother of mine committed suicide in Inverness in 1860.

My new book, Tracing Your Irish Family History on the Internet, is now available from Pen and Sword. My Scottish land and church records ebooks are available at, whilst my next Pharos Scottish course, Scottish Research Online, starts Sep 4th - see Time to smash a few brick walls...!
